What comes to your mind when you think of the Maldives? Local Markets, shops, roads, motorbikes and cars, or people who rush to work? Or simply ocean, sand, sun?
Maldives has taken its place in the world as the country with the lowest height. The highest point of the country above sea level is 2.4 meters, while the average altitude is 1.8 meters. The highest region is in Addu Atoll on Vilingili Island in the southern part of the country.
We had our wedding and found ourselves in the Maldives while wondering where to go for honeymoon. We wished for a quiet, calm and peaceful place to spend these special days that we will only live once in our lives.
As most travel enthusiasts like me would agree, the most beautiful and delightful of the great seas is located in the Indian Ocean, south of Sri Lanka. It is a state consisting of 1200 islands with a population of 350 thousand, but only about 300 of these islands are habited.
